Shawn Sewell pushes Tegan Fraser all the way in Varsity Lakes race

Tegan Fraser and Shawn Sewell

Shawn Sewell, our clubs 17 year old representative in The Varsity Lakes race on Sunday March 22, pushed Australian kayak marathon team member Tegan Fraser all the way. Basically Shaun and Tegan paddled together for the 15 ks. Sometimes Shaun in front, sometimes Tegan.  They just paddled together and kept each other going.Shaun did really come in at the same time. He said he just backed off and let her go over first but there was only 0.04secs the difference. Their official times for the 15 kilometre race were listed as 1 hour , 13 minutes and 3 seconds for Tegan, with Shaun being officially listed as 1 second slower. Well done Shawn. We are proud of you

Great performances were also put in by Chris Mason, finishing 4th in the 15 k, unrestricted men’s 35+ (time 1.18.45); Stuart Thomson finishing 2nd in 15 k, unrestricted men’s 50+ (time 1.18.06) and Elspeth Berger  10 k, TK1 ladies 50+ (time 1.22.44).

Thanks for taking the time to travel to Varsity.
